Boro beat Winterton 3-0 yesterday, and when the third goal was scored by Bryan Hughes it broke the all-time goal-scoring record for the Northern Counties East League.
Boro have now scored 124 goals in the league, which is a record for the entire NCEL – all divisions and reserve divisions – since it formed in 1982.
Bridlington Town held the previous record of 123, which they achieved in the 09-10 premier division season. That in turn had beaten the record of 121 set the previous season by Boro in division one.
Boro now have four matches remaining, three in the league. They could possibly have seven more games, as a victory in the league cup at Long Eaton would see them play Thackley in the quarter-final, followed by Worksop in the semi-final if victorious again.
The final is likely to be held on May Bank Holiday Monday, May 6th, at a neutral venue.
